Instrument Calibration in Kozani & Ptolemaida

Western Macedonia has generated a large share of the country's electricity for decades and heats its own towns from the same plant. That gives it a measurement profile found nowhere else in Greece: very large cooling water flows, high-energy steam conditions, and district heating networks where delivered energy is billed from flow and differential temperature. The region is also mid-transition from lignite to gas and renewables, which means new metering being commissioned alongside long-established plant — and commissioning is exactly when a baseline calibration is most valuable.

Western Macedonia is about two hours from our Thessaloniki hub, served as a planned or next-day visit.

Industrial zones we cover

  • The Ptolemaida power generation complex and surrounding installations
  • District heating networks of Kozani, Ptolemaida and Amyntaio
  • VI.PE. Florina
  • The Western Macedonia mining and quarrying areas
  • Amyntaio and Meliti industrial installations

Local industry

Power generation

Cooling water, feedwater and steam conditions, and the protective pressure instrumentation on high-energy systems.

District heating

Delivered heat billed from flow and differential temperature, where a fraction of a degree across the pair moves the invoice.

Natural gas infrastructure

Gas metering on new and converted plant, where the measurement is simultaneously a fuel cost, an emissions input and a commercial figure.

Mining and quarrying

Dewatering, process water and dust suppression flows, plus the utilities supporting the operation.

Industrial water management

Large-volume abstraction, cooling make-up and discharge, all reported and all measured.

Typical measurement points

  • Large-diameter cooling water flow verification
  • Feedwater and steam temperature and pressure measurement
  • District heating heat metering — flow paired with differential temperature
  • Fuel gas metering for cost, efficiency and emissions reporting
  • Protective pressure instruments on high-energy systems

Common questions

Tell us about the measurement point you need checked

Describe the instrument and your plant, and we will tell you what can be verified in-situ, what needs a workshop calibration, and what it will take.
